APP Group presents two newest additions to portfolio of sustainable food packaging solutions at EXPO PACK Mexico 2024 in Mexico City, Mexico, from June 4-7

MEXICO CITY, Mexico, May 31, 2024 (Press Release) – APP Group (APP) and Charta
Global Inc., its Exclusive Sales Channel in the US and LATAM, have announced the
addition of two new sustainable food packaging products in the Latin American
market. Foopak Anchor Bio, a hard-sized paper packaging board, and Foopak
Natural Grease Resistant, a flexible paper solution, will be featured at EXPO PACK
México which will take place from June 4-7, 2024 in Mexico City at Expo Santa Fe.
Both products, along with the company’s Bio Natura suite of plastic-free,
compostable food service packaging, will be featured at booth #1642 during the
event.

Specifically designed for direct food contact, Foopak Anchor Bio eliminates
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastics in the ready-meal and frozen food
packaging markets by utilizes an aqueous dispersion coating technology to replace
the traditional plastic lining commonly used in food service packaging. Foopak
Anchor Bio is OBA free and features a strong edge wick and high bulk for excellent
barrier performance. The packaging board has thermoforming properties which
make it a safe and suitable choice for creating food trays that can conveniently go
from a cold case or freezer directly to a microwave or conventional oven up to 400
degrees Fahrenheit.

APP’s Foopak Natural Grease Resistant flexible paper comes in both bleached and
unbleached grades. It is also available in a range of weights suitable for bakery
bags, food wrappers, fry and burger bags, and they can even be used for industrial
baking. Foopak Natural Grease Resistant paper also has high tensile strength and
smoothness for optimum durability and handle printing which can be excellently
converted.

Both Foopak Anchor Bio and Foopak Natural Grease Resistant grades are durable,
recyclable and meet compostable standards. They are also FDA-compliant and
REACH certified for direct food contact. Additionally, these products are PFAS-free,
which can ease growing consumer concerns about perfluoroalkyl and
polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as forever chemicals, which are
typically present in traditional plastic food packaging.

APP continues to invest in research and development for new products as consumer
demands for the frozen and ready meal market, take-away and delivery continue to
increase in these sectors. According to research, the frozen food segment alone is
projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.31% by 2031.
Aside from the two new products, APP will also showcase its extensive line-up of
foodservice packaging board, lightweight paper and consumer goods packaging
board grades at EXPO PACK México. The full range of APP’s award- winning
sustainable packaging, Foopak Bio Natura, will also be on display to showcase
plastic-free food service cups, bowls, food containers, and retail direct food contact
board applications. The entire Foopak Bio Natura line is multi- certified as
microwaveable, ovenable, recyclable, and compostable, exceeding the capabilities
for safe use and circularity.

“Mexico continues to be one of the largest economies in Latin America, with
restaurants and grocery being the fastest growing sectors for food packaging. New
economies combined with sustainable legislation are guiding the food service
industry to collectively rethink packaging. Sustainability is no longer an additional
perk, but it is now a requirement when it comes to packaging. Amid the growing
need for sustainable packaging solutions across the region, APP’s suite of plasticfree
packaging boards is designed to address the demand,” said Anthony Atamimi,
Director of Latin America Sales, APP.
