The 2024 ELLE Run: Embracing Plastic-Free with APP’s Foopak Compostable Paper Cups

Saturday, 4th of May 2024, Taiwan; Today, APP Group’s sustainable paperboard packaging brand, Foopak, announced its participation in the ELLE Run 2024 in Taiwan for the third consecutive year. The event took place on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at Taipei Dajia Riverside Park-Action Dome Plaza, with Foopak sponsoring 17,000 white cups for water and 10,000 printed cups for sports drinks at the three hydration stations.

This year, over 6,500 runners joined the 5 km and 10 km road races. The collaboration emphasises a shared commitment to sustainability, aiming to encourage runners to adopt more environmentally-friendly lifestyles. The cups replaced traditional plastic and plastic-lined paper cups, significantly reducing the run’s environmental impact through more sustainable alternatives. Made from Foopak bio paperboard, the cups are fully compostable, ensuring that this event became more sustainable and contributed to a greener future.

Taiwan’s running community is rapidly expanding. In recent years, road running has gained recognition as a healthy sport, beneficial for fitness and stress relief. According to a 2023 study by the Sports Administration, Ministry of Education Taiwan, 82.6% of people participated in sports, with 35.0% engaging in regular exercise for the first time since 2014. People are increasingly eco-conscious, favouring brands with robust sustainability initiatives.

Organised by Hearst Taiwan, the 10th Annual ELLE Run themed “Run with Style” allowed runners to embrace Parisian fashion, passion, and freedom. True to the event’s tagline #BeParis, runners indulged in classic French snacks like madeleines, macarons, and croissants on the track.
